You wana know what's more magical than a snowy Christmas tree farm?.. When you have the farm all to yourselves!
The Woodhouse family and I were so blessed that the family behind the Snowy Ridge Christmas Tree Farm let us in the doors a week early for family photos. If you are local to the Westby area, you absolutely must get your trees from this magical wonderland! My family and I have always spent the weekend after Thanksgiving cutting down our Christmas tree here and warming up in the cabin with hot cocoa and cookies afterwards. The Hasting's always host with such a warm and inviting energy that we are always anxious to go back for holiday cheer year after year!
So, like an enthusiastic wife and loving husband do, I always *drag* Augie along to all of the Christmasy events. The first year we dated it was like pulling teeth to get him to even think about going! Seriously. Augie hated Christmas and anything red, green or heartwarming. Haha! He used to "claims" his spirit animal is the Grinch. Well, after dragging the poor soul out to the countryside and harvesting our own tree, it seemed to change his perspective. The whole experience of getting our first tree at Snowy Ridge together seemed that the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes that day! I still make him saw down the tree and hold the sticky sappy end back to the cabin, but he seriously enjoys being a lumberjack for a day ;) So, if a real life spin on a Christmas classic still doesn't convince you that this little farm outside of Westby isn't magic, then I don't know what will ;)
Magic also happens on this farm before the public is let in :) The Woodhouse family were absolutely fabulous for their family session here. Colby helped pick out the perfect trees to stand by (which I am totally making a mental note of for opening day) and even helped me post Mom and Dad for their first portraits since their wedding just over a year ago!
I love their love.
I love the way Colby cares so deeply about everything and is excited about anything.
I love the way Sophie cares for her two boys and I hope neither of them ever tire of your lipstick kisses.
I love the way Kurtis smiles at his family when they aren't looking, and that he was such a trooper wearing that nice sweater! ;)
I just fricken' adore this lil family! Enjoy the highlights from their session!
Mommas and pappas need mini portrait sessions, too! Expect this on family sessions, always ;)
