I am so excited to share Katie's senior session on the blog today!
This year I have implemented Senior Consults with all of my sweet seniors & their parents. Whoever I am photographing, I am a firm believer that we should get to know each other a bit before I stick a camera in your face! Like, really. How appealing does this sound: "Hi, how are ya? Great, okay, now smile!" *click* NOPE. 😂 Also, Senior Consults help me understand your, (you, as in the senior) personality. The better I get to know you before the session, the better I can execute your personality on camera.
So, at Katie's Senior Consult, I asked Katie what was something she would absolutely love to have in her session. Some seniors have said their family dog or a specific location, but her mother mentioned something completely different. She said,
"Katie has always loved to swing. Ever since she was a little girl, her safe and quiet place has always been on a swing. She would swing for hours."
I decided in that moment that a swing was going to happen. Without a doubt. For the next few weeks leading up to Katie's senior session, I would take an extra detour in my local travels to scope out any locations that might have a swing worthy of Katie's portraits. Parks, school or church playgrounds, you name it! I felt like none of them were quite the dream I was envisioning for Katie. So, if I couldn't find an existing swing, I was going to make one. Okay, my husband Augie was going to make one. *hehe* So one afternoon I told Augie my dream for Katie & he made it happen! Woo!
